In the late 16th century, ‘Malaga pottery’ was produced in Lisbon with either a plain white glaze, or a simple cobalt blue sketch, as in this small bowl from the Colégio de S. Bento. The altar vessel is also from the same source and has a decoration inspired by Italian faience.
