Indo-Portuguese medium sized chest of drawers consisting of two segments, one on top of the other. The upper part comprises a chest, disguised as a large upper drawer, a large intermediate drawer and two adjacent drawers near the base. The bottom part is simply a very large drawer, supported by four pierced feet carved in the shape of Jatayus, characteristic of this type of furniture.
The decoration in ebony on teak, is predominately botanical, despite the presence of some Jatayus, and is densely distributed over the entire surface of the piece, including the back and interior of the lid of the chest.
