A sun monstrance of great dramatic effect created by the contrast between the polychrome wood of the angel and the resplendence of the silver and the glittering stones of the host box. The angel holds aloft an enormous, smooth and polished sphere from which radiates a corona of tapering, serrated silver rays. The Eucharistic symbols surrounding the host box, positioned in the centre of the sphere, are accentuated by brightly coloured enameling. The host box is mounted over a circular plate ornated with eight silver-gilt cherubs. Plant motifs and various coloured stones forming flowers complete the decoration. This piece belonged to the Convento do Sacramento de Alcântara in Lisbon.
